The Strange Death Of Liberal England.
Apolyptic post-rock all singing, dancing five piece.
"They sound like God's own orchestra" Uncut Magazine
Of debut single, 'a day another day'*:
"...all rule books and formulas are discarded, and so before your eyes and ears an experimental montage of sounds and styles that should not work bond together with the consumate perfection of an experienced orchestra to create something that sounds so unimpeachably huge it would probably need at least three cranes to shift it."
Dom Gourlay, Drowned in Sound
"intellecto-situationists TSDOLE are here to distract us from the earthly pleasures of The Twang. And prevail they shall - mainly because they sound like Arcade Fire with tattoos and have a singer so dreamily effete he makes Neil Young seem like a car wash worker."
Paul Moody, New Musical Express
"With 'A Day Another Day', the band embrace the talent that flows through them in exquisite style. The song builds upon elegant xylophone playing and a rhythmic drumbeat until it is solid enough to withstand the whirlwind finish that they flourish it with. 8/10 ARRESTING
www.trash-hits.com
Arriving fully formed with a grandiose atmosphere and a melody too concise for the genre's more pompous side, with iLiKETRAiNS, they're at the vanguard of taking post-rock into hearts as well as the brain. 8/10
John Earls
Live:
TSDOLE remind us of everything and nothing. They make perfect sense and no sense at all. They're massive and yet they fit in The Barfly. They shouldn't even fit in Camden. We're shocked that they're English. Music on this scale is usually made by bands like The Arcade Fire. But this charismatic five-piece, thankfully, are readdressing the balance. Wathcing them play, and constantly swapping instruments, is like watching a post-folk reworking of Les Miserables. Go See.
Johnny K, The Fly
The Strange Death of Liberal England have received airplay on Radio One and Radio 6 from Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens.

Poppy and the jezebels
Girl band Poppy and The Jezebels, from Kingsheath, are purveyors of classic indie pop.
Pupils at the same school in Birmingham, this mercurial bunch play loping indie-pop that is reminiscent of those postpunk icons the Raincoats. But there is also a softer psych-folk edge, starting with the title track’s dark, carnivalesque allure. The crunchy Nazi Girls, the Lips of Cleopatra (dreamy folk-pop) and Jezebel (folk-pop by way of a Bo Diddley rhythm) seem to suggest that history is their favourite subject. The band is touring during the school holidays, so go and check out a band that is not only unusual but also potentially amazing.
4 out of 5 Guardian online
Teenage Riot 2007" proclaims the NME as everyone from the Observer Music Monthly to Vice Magazine and now even Cosmo Girl and CBBC's school holiday programming vie to announce the arrival of Poppy & The Jezebels and a teenage band and club "youth-quaking cultural revolution"... And you can just imagine what they must sound like, can't you? Except, I venture to suggest, you probably can't. There are no Hoxton new rave affectations, no pre- programmed emo prattle. Instead, the four girls- average age 15- show the full range of their eclectic influences over the 6 songs of their debut mini-album. Girl-group harmonies and Bo Diddley beats. Guitar hooks that recall The Shadows (via The Pixies). Glam-Rock stomps and pure pop piano intro's. Cellos', tambourines and a mastering credit for Galaxie 500 producer Kramer. I played this to one friend who smiled and said "The Raincoats meet Sparks" and to another who offered "Pentangle, Cat Power and The Velvet Underground". As their biography humbly states, Poppy & The Jezebels are rather remarkable.
BBC online
“Poppy and the Jezebels set an impressive standard for the new generation.”
Tim Jonze NME
With a young Marianne Faithful on vocals,
a New York Doll on drums, a dream-girl on keyboards and a
Guitarist who looks like the girl that was too cool to be in the
Carrie Nations they're infinately watchable, like a benign warrior gang. As
though, if you left these girls on a island in 'Lord of The Flies'
and not boys, they'd form a band and take over the world.

Let's Wrestle
Let's Wrestle are a North London trio who play fantasticly shambolic pop.
Pass your coffee. Hold your newborn. Play Jenga. Look after your cat. These ham-fisted gentlemen would struggle. Soundtrack popper-sniffing frolics in the car park to Lidl? These absurd gentlemen would thriv

When it comes to making indie pop, it's actually perversely very difficult to sound as if you're not making much of an effort. What you're aiming for is that hey-we're-just-making-this-up-as-we-go-along scruffiness that the likes of Pavement perfected back in the dishevelled mid-90s; what you all too often get is the kind of studied distractedness that made late-period Blur so unconvincing. London sleeve-wipers, Let's Wrestle, have the whole not-arsed thing down pat, however, with Song For Abba Tribute Record (Marquis Cha Cha) sounding like the accidental 4am lovechild of eight bottles of £2.99 Merlot and a wheelbarrow full of Cutter's Choice. To cement their slacker status, Let's Wrestle have been endorsed and supported by none other than crown prince of the underachievers, wunderdoodler David Shrigley.
From BBC Collective
let's wrestle are the new indie kids on the block and this is their debut single on marquis cha cha. 'song for abba tribute record' is a fantastic slice of chaos that sounds like early wedding present with guitars that clatter at each other mixed with the shambolic nature of early flying nun records and pavement. the vocalist is a dead ringer for nikki sudden as he sings with a drunken drawl, slightly out of tune and with lyrics that need to be heard to be believed. marquis cha cha are twenty six releases old and still there is no let up in the quality. limited 7".

Silicon Kid
London 5 piece that fuse the best elements of alternative rock.
"A fusion of the best elements of recent alternative rock, skillful song writing and musical proficiency. Radiohead without the pessimism, Bloc Party without the arty farty element, Grandaddy without the Americanisms. This is the kind of band that doesn't judge itself on the quality of the lead singer's leather jacket alone."
BBC online
"Incredible songs, ranging from the rousing, jawbreaking anthem 'Baggage Drowned' to the melancholic utterances of 'Shoot the Pilot', SILICON KID have nailed it"

Hey Everyone
The next dirtyboots line-up has now been confirmed so please make sure you put WED JUNE 6th in your diary:
Here's a little info and some reviews for all the bands:
See you there
Sam
The Draytones
on a bleak winter's eve in January 2006, 3 lads stand gazing at 60's legend Joe meek's former north London home. they smile knowingly, shake hands and all agree to henceforth be the draytones, an Anglo-argentine psychbeat collective commited to reactivating a sound long lost and feared forgotten. Gabriel and luke were brought together in London n7, via Buenas aires and Grimsby. fed up with everything on the radio and a life on the breadline, they found eel pie islander Chris and set off to play songs the likes of which had not been heard since the rug-cutting glory days of Syd Barrett, the Kinks, Thee milkshakes and many more. with a simple drums, bass and guitar setup they wish to play to anyone who will lend an ear, that they too may vibrate in the mind of the one true god whose name is love; Following support slots with the Strawbs, the Downliners sect and The View - they were transported back to 1965 - just like they had allways dreamed
A sea of retro frocks, flowing locks and polo shirts slink towards the stage for 1965 Records' The Draytones. Presenting themselves with a jungle drumming, the trio proceed to charm the Zanzibar with a set of coiled, effervescent energy. Equal parts Kinks and Fab Four, the London-based trio roll out a blanket of breezy bass-lines and pert guitar flourishes intersected with great vocals. Infinitely easy on the ear, and hip-wrigglingly good.

Captain Phoenix
Captain Phoenix are a rare pop entity: a band that will fully restore your faith in British songwriting.
"I can thoroughly recommend Captain Phoenix. I've heard some early demos. Hell of a singer, hell of a songwriter. Captain Phoenix, definitely one to watch." - BBC6
"..a glorious romance lurking in a lonely and futile tale of the underbelly of London's indie-scene. Captain Phoenix are not weary, not whiny, not resentful: they turn this shitty scenester routine into truly beautiful pop-songs." - GIGWISE
"From the first drum beats of 'Living On The Guestlist' it is clear that these guys have potential. With infectious guitar riffs, the song is catchy, upbeat and well put together. The chorus also has the nack of sticking in your head." - ClickMusic
"Displaying a sense of maturity and enviable ease at carving memorable shots of melodically astute song craft, they show ample evidence of a band not only at ease with themselves but possessing the ability to concoct gems almost at will." - Losing Today
Trailing Laces
TRAILING LACES are 4 young working class guys from Newport, These talented chaps write huge, soaring songs, quality tunes with impassioned vocals offset against shimmering guitars and a strong heavy groove. They have already supported The Zutons, Editors, The SpintoBand & the Maccabees

Rolling Dog
Rolling Dog are five young men from Portsmouth. They specialise in writing killer pop songs with hooks you could hang yourself on.
The Fly:
"Rarely does a band accomplish so much with such passion and vigour. Rolling Dog are a true rarity - a punk/rock band you can actually dance too properly AS WELL as sing along too - Bloody fantastic."
Artrocker:
"Rolling Dog are a full-on artrock monster of slashing twin guitar punk-rock action with full dance grooves attached."
Planet Sound
(Channel 4)
'demo of the week':
"Already championed by Lamacq and it's easy to see why, itchy and infectious. Ace!"
What can I say...I had an amazing birthday party… but I think it was the distinct lack of food that made it just so very difficult to not be a complete drunken fool by 10pm! I must apologise to everyone who I spoke to after that time, I have no idea what I was on about…
I would have wrote this blog sooner but I partied through to Sunday morning and I have only just about recovered…. It was an amazing launch night at Proud and because of all you wonderful people who came along & those of you who played, we now have a monthly residency there on the 1st Wednesday of every Month starting in June…well chuffed...
Firstly a big thank you to our DJ's HotBamWhiskyFizzle – you were amazing and played the perfect set all night long. and onto the bands....
The Medicine Show – … There are so many bands out there who are trying to go with whatever sounds cool so it was really good to see a band with Hammond organ, a violinist and a vocalist the sounds like a cross between Shane McGowen and Dylan.
The Neat People – fantastic 4 part vocal harmonies that are just spot on and songs from the XTC/Squeeze school of pop..
Winterkids - Just back from a storming SXSW … Every tracks was a winner and a great frontman to boot.
And Finally-
The Natives… A great band who seem to be tipped by everyone at the moment including there fans who appeared to know every word to every song and ended the evening perfectly....
Thanks again to those who came along – see you all on Wednesday June 6th!!
